Deluxe 4CD set capturing the essential later years of one of the greatest soul and funk bands of all time., Average White Band broke boundaries and dominated the US, UK, and international charts between 1974 and 1980. Their timeless grooves have influenced generations of R&B and hip-hop artists, making AWB one of the most sampled bands in music history, with nods from Snoop Dogg, Mark Ronson, Ice Cube, TLC, Puff Daddy, and many more. Reforming in 1988 with founding members Alan Gorrie and Onnie McIntyre, AWB entered a new creative era. Aftershock (1988) marked their return, featuring standout tracks like "The Spirit of Love" with Chaka Khan and Ronnie Laws, and "Sticky Situation", with guest appearances from The Ohio Players. Following an eight-year hiatus, the band returned with Soul Tattoo (1996), recorded at Daryl Hall's New York studio. Highlights include "Back To Basics", "Every Beat Of My Heart" (with Klyde Jones on vocals), and "I Wanna Be Loved", featuring Daryl Hall. In 1998, AWB toured with Tower of Power and recorded Face To Face live at San Francisco's Fillmore Auditorium-a dynamic mix of new material and classic favorites. This release marks the first CD reissue since it's original 1999 launch. Their most recent full studio album, Living In Colour (2003), sees the band revisiting classic soul with inspired covers including "I'm Gonna Make You Love Me" and "Love Won't Let Me Wait." The collection closes with the bonus track "Harvest For The World" (2017), featuring Chris Jasper of The Isley Brothers-an unforgettable collaboration between soul and R&B legends. This period of AWB's recorded history is as important as their earlier material, as it showcases how Bands can develop a new sound and work with different production techniques, whilst still retaining their authentic musicianship.
