Rains is brilliant as a sideshow mind reader whose powers turn out to be real. Soon he is making a plethora of accurate predictions deaths, accidents, horse racing results, etc. However, he is unable to control his prophecies until he realizes that he can only invoke them in the presence of a certain young woman, who threatens to make a shambles of his marriage to the beautiful Fay Wray. Things get worse when Rains is accused of creating a disaster he predicted. The climactic courtroom scene is a gem! The close-ups of Rains' face while in trance are unforgettable.
